Peace for the Streets by Kids from the StreetsPeace for the Streets by Kids from the Streets (PSKS) provides support and services to Seattle area homeless youth and young adults. Founded in 1995, PSKS was a response to the growing number of homeless youth coupled with the significant shortage of available services for them. PSKS is a unique organization that uses the talents and experiences of homeless and formerly homeless young people to develop service strategies for their peers. PSKS's committed efforts are targeted at providing stepping stones to transition youths from the streets to self-sufficiency and productive roles in the community. PSKS's mission is driven by the belief that there is potential in every person and a solution for every cause. Mockingbird Society
The Mockingbird Society strives toward the vision of a world in which
the intrinsic value of our most marginalized children will be both
recognized and celebrated. As an organization, the Mockingbird Society
is committed to advocacy, public education and system reform on behalf
of the thousands of children and adolescents involved in the Child
Welfare System.
Tenants Union
Created in 1977 by volunteers, the Tenants Union of Washington State
(TU) has built a dedicated membership base and steadfastly sustained
grassroots social change organizing.
The TU challenges and transforms unjust housing conditions and housing policies through empowerment-based education, leadership development, and community organizing and tenant ownership. ROOTS Young Adult Shelter (Seattle)ROOTS Young Adult Shelter provides safe, emergency, overnight shelter to young adults (ages 18-25) in Seattle's University District that are homeless. Our vision is that one day shelter will no longer be necessary because each young person will have a safe home. Until that happens, we will continue to open our doors.
